  • Re: newbooks Readers' Conference 2013

Also - are we supposed to have actual tickets for this event? I haven't been e-mailed any tickets, just a 'thanks for booking' e-mail. Should I expect some through the post?

That's unbelievable Sal, I'm so sorry that you've had to cancel your plans - and quite right that they should refund your expenses! I've decided just to make a day trip of it and get the super duper early train down in the morning. Thanks so much everyone who had a little search for accommodation for me though. The reviews of that ...

Oh, thanks so much Mandy! It's a shame that the Premier Inn/Travelodges are a bit out of the way. A search on lastminute.com didn't come up with anything much cheaper than £80. Well, at least I know the trains are do-able and not too expensive if nothing turns up.

  • Re: Quinoa, buckwheat, and other such weird foods....

This is one of my favourite recipes, I make it all the time: http://www.thekitchn.com/vegetarian-recipe-black-bean-sweet-potato-and-quinoa-chili-166739 Just make a few substitutes to make things easier to source, so where they say '1 can fire-roasted tomatoes' I just use a normal tin of tomatoes, and for the 'dried black beans' I ...

  • Re: newbooks Readers' Conference 2013

Can anyone recommend any good/reasonably priced places to spend the night in Winchester? I've got a really good deal on train tickets but if I come for the day will involve leaving Manchester at 05.11am which I am a bit wibbly about when taking into account my journey to the station too. Although an early start every once in a while never did ...

[quote user="windysisters"] Also Simply Be do plus sizes and they have a lot of designer stuff in there that you'd normally only be able to get up to size 14 in the shops.  For example I bought a size 18 Ben Sherman blouse in there (I wore it to the Bookbarn) - you can shop online or through their catalogue but you don't ...

Oooh, if you don't have to be a subscriber then I am very tempted by this. It sounds like a great day and at a really reasonable price.

I'm feeling really apprehensive about giving my books away tomorrow - how will I approach all these people?! Good luck everyone!

  • Re: Now I really do feel my age.....

I was with my friend in a library in Manchester last year and she was looking for a copy of Anna Karenina. Central Library in Manchester is currently being refurbished so their book collection is a bit all over the place and we couldn't find it, so she asked the lady at the desk...who replied "Anna who? I'll have to check the system. ...
