• Re: The Knife of Never Letting Go - Patrick Ness
The writing is not good enough to make me want to read on. I now have just wasted my time reading a book with no ending.  This book was given away for world books day and a cynic would say that the author only agreed to this to guarantee selling more of his other books.
When I saw this was one of the ...

  • Re: Booker Prize 2013

It's a fascinating list, when you look at it. Such a range of styles. From the early ones ( say prior to 1990) I've read quite a few novels by the short-listed authors, but not necessarily the Booker short-listed titles. Of the more recent ones (post 1990) I have several on my tbr, which I haven't got round to reading. (Which raises ...

  • Re: Dry hands - any tips?!
A tub of E45 or zinc and castor oil cream (£1 from the quid shop!) - perfect!
Agree with a lot of the suggestions, but do be careful with zinc & castor oil cream. A lot of people (me included!) are very sensitive to zinc oxide, and it can make things worse. Personally I use emollient cream, ...

  • Re: Hoarders
I keep saying I would be able to pay for a 3 months sabatical from work by selling it all. I'd have a lovely three months, half the day sorting and selling, half the day relaxing and having fun.
Sounds great in theory but..... I made one of those 'new year resolutions' a few years ago to ...

  • Re: The Bellwether Revivals by Benjamin Wood
I'm so glad I found this one on the RISI forums!
I'm so glad I knew him before he was famous!  Great to see someone you know enjoying success. ps. Bellwether has recently been shortlisted for the Waverton Good Read 2012/13.

  • Re: Duplicate postings - does anyone know why?
What are you posting from?
I was posting from my netbook, as I usually do. Not had it happen before, so maybe just one of those random glitches that we love so much!

  • Re: Craft thread

They look lovely Gemma - what a great idea. Are the backs simply overlapped so that you can stuff a cushion pad inside without zips or buttons?

  • Duplicate postings - does anyone know why?

Is there a reason why some postings appear in duplicate... or triplicate.... or....? I replied to a posting today and it's showing twice. I've seen this happen occasionally with other people's postings, but this is the first time (as far as I know) that one of mine has done this. Any ideas?

  • Re: New book coming out by Lionel Shriver
Must say after reading her attitude on food andabout her brothers story, it just made me think so neither of them have a healthy attitude to food.
Agreed. And she doesn't sound as though she's a happy person. By which I don't mean that she should be jolly and cheery, by any means. It's just ...
