My friend Dot called round for a coffee this morning with one of my wishlist books for me - The invisible Ones by Stef Penney. I put it on my wishlist as soon as I'd heard Stef had written another book. I loved 'The Tenderness of Wolves' when I read it a few years ago and I've been wondering what her next novel would be like. How exciting is that?

I've bumped it up to my 'next read' because she wants me to pass it on to Pat next. I always feel such a responsibility when I've got a book someone else is waiting for. I'll finish 'The Island' today and make a start.....

Hey ho.....just 820 books to go, but I could not resist going into Lonely Planet and getting more books for free (a donation).  My excuse is I took 5 there and bought 5 back and they were:

    Girl Missing - Tess Gerritsen

Always the Children - Anne Watts (true story)

The Memory Collector - Meg Gardiner

    The Snowman - Jo Nesbo

    Play Dead - Harlan Coben.

And I want to read them all..............sometime (maybe never)  Aaah ho.....

from the library, Midwife on Call - there's just so many of these health worker memoirs at the moment - this is about the work in the 1960s

Lots of Kindle books - I had some Amazon vouchers and had decided to spend most of them on 2 more expensive items than I usually get on Kindle, both memoirs of childhood and teenage years -

    Carmen Aguirre, Something Fierce

Jeannette Winterson, Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?

Then I used the rest and more besides in the Rainy Day Reads Kindle sale

Another childhood memoir by Janice Galloway - this is her first one, not the new one - Radio 4's Book of the Week and their other serials have a huge influence on my buying as I hear so bits of so many interesting books there, BOTW is the non fiction one.

4 books from the Daisy Dalrymple series by Carola Dunn - I have the first 8 from the Book people, 9-14 and 19 were in the summer sale, so I bought 15-18 in the current sale for up to £1.49 each

a book about travelling in Mexico

2 Penguin poetry books - an anthology and the poetry of Robert Burns selected by one Ian Rankin! It's separate from the Rainy Day sale I think but there have been several very brief 99p offers among the Penguin Classics and some which stay around for a bit longer.

Three in yesterday two from a discount bookstore and one from BHF charity shop.

Eon: Rise of the dragoneye By Alison Goodman (which is a beautiful hardback copy and got it for £2)

Nightworld Volume 1-3 by LJ Smith (which was also £2)

Last Christmas by Julia Williams (From BHF for £1.50 and getting added to my christmas reading list)

If that were not enough I picked some books up today from charity shops as well

A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks (My second copy but it has a beautiful cover)

    these three for a pound:

Seduced at Midnight by Jacquie D'Alessandro

The Conqueror's lady by Terri Brisbin

    The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

I also picked up from another charity shop Winter Rose by Patricia McKillip for 50p.  I think I have a problem, going to pick up some library reservations tomorrow too.
