Started on my favourite 'Bond's' autobiography last night, "My Word Is My Bond by Roger Moore."

"It was just after midnight on 14 October 1927, when Lily Moore (nee Pope) gave birth to a twenty-three-inch-long baby at a maternity hospital in Jeffereys Road, Stockwell, London SW8.  The baby's father, George Alfred Moore, was twenty-three and a police constable station at Bow Street.  Of course, I'm only quoting this from hearsay.  I was much too young to recall such a momentous event as my entry into this world."

Have started THE LIKENESS by TANA FRENCH. So far so very good - the sort of book I sink into and don't want to put down. I think it put me off solely by its physical presence - my copy is hardback, and weighs a kilo!

Now reading: Digging in Dark Places by Colin Duckworth

I'm now enjoying The Swap by Antony Moore, in which Harvey decides to use a school reunion as an opportunity to retrieve a rare Superman comic he swapped in childhood with a classmate. His attempts rapidly descend into farce and then turn to nightmare as he finds himself implicated in a murder.

There is a line early on the book that we should perhaps display prominently somewhere on this site, for the benefit of those who don't quite get the swapping concept :q34:.  When the other boy asks whether he can get his belongings back if he agrees to swap them, Harvey replies:

"Of course not, once you swap, you swap, you can't undo it."

The Man From Pomegranate Street by Caroline Lawrence was a quick, young adult read.    I'm now around 70 pages into A Swift Pure Cry by Siobhan O Dowd - another young adult book, and so far, it's excellent
