LOVE Borges. I did my  uni dissertation on him, and was fortunate enough to meet the man himself-spent the 3rd year of my course in Buenos Aires:what an experience!

Excellent, I can pick your brains then! I must admit I'm finding Fictions quite patchy - I'd probably really enjoy studying it, but I can't say I'm enjoying it on my own. There are large sections that I don't really understand (for example the Quixote stuff's going right over my head, but I think this is because I know nothing about the book...) Can you take each section on its own merits (like short stories) or are they all going to add up to something like a novel? ie. Can I skip the ones I don't get?!

In some ways, you would actually be better to dip in and out of his work, as it does tend to be repetitive.  He develops themes and sticks to them quite rigorously, and that can be a bit tedious, although it's interesting as you suggested, when looking at it from an academic viewpoint. For example, I was fascinated by his use of the labyrinth, and spent many a page dissecting that!

They are all stand alone, so by picking and choosing, you won't miss too much. His strength lies in word play and the development of  metaphysical ideas-you won't find too many interesting and appealing characters. However, his importance to Spanish American literature was immense-when being awarded the Nobel Prize, Garcia Marquez commented that Borges should have been the recipient.

I read Ella Minnow Pea a few years ago and I enjoyed it.  It is a very clever idea.  However, a friend read it and wasn't that impressed once the novelty of the idea wore off so it perhaps isn't for everyone.

I have recently read Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern, while i enjoyed the story I preferred A Place Called Here and If You Could See Me Now also by Cecelia Ahern.

I haven't read any of the other books on your list.

I never like to plan what books I intend to read in the month, as some books need light relief after them and you can never tell which books will be on the deeper side until you start reading them.

Aiming to read The Defrosting of Charlotte Small by Annabel Giles next.

Currently still reading Tom, *** & Debbie Harry by Jessica Adams don't seem to have had much time to finish this book lately, only 86 pages to go ...

I really like Cecilia Ahern too but wasn't keen on If You Could See Me Now.  My friend just bought The Gift so I'd like to read that at some point too.  I love Jessica Adams.  I recently read Cool for Cats and read Single White Email a while ago too and I have The Summer Psychic around somewhere.  She's very witty.  I've read one of Annabel Giles' books too - can't remember the title but really enjoyed it.

I try and read a few different styles as I get tired of the same old thing.  I couldn't read tons of one author's books all at one go so I like to mix things up a bit.  I do stick to a rough plan of what to read or I'd never make my mind up but don't necessarily stick to it - I've been reading The Blade Itself for a couple of months and the aim is to finish it this weekend!!
