I've now read The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas which was great.  I tried to start the Spellman Files and wasn't enjoying it either. I may go back to it but the main character was annoying me and if I'd known it was described as "sassy" I would have avoided it! 

Updated to add a few more.  I have been reading lots more than this but some things have jumped the queue and were read without even going on this list.

I haven't made much progress with the books that have been on the list a long time, but I did read "The Secret History" which I enjoyed although I thought the ending was weak.

The Secret History - Donna Tartt  This has been on my TBR from pre-RiSi days - I really ought to read it

One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez I've read his Love in the Time of Cholera which I enjoyed but felt it took forever to read so have been scared to read another by him

Northern Lights - Philip Pullman  Fantastic series, the third one (The Amber Spyglass) broke my heart.
