    holiday reading

I know I'm not going away for another four weeks but last night I couldn't help myself and was trying to pick what books I will take away with me.

I think all of these will be easy reads and I've tried to pick a variety of books. I'm happy to leave any one of these books at the hotel as I don't think any will be keepers (except maybe Labyrinth).

I've got it down to ten books, problem is I'll only take five with me so please help me decide!

what books shall I take with me to read on holiday

    • Labyrinth - Kate Mosse (7.7%)
    • My Sisters Keeper - Jodi Picoult (30.8%)
    • The Food of Love - Anthony Capella (15.4%)
    • The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks (11.5%)
    • Wives and Lovers Jane Elizabeth Varley (0%)
    • Watermelon - Marian Keyes (19.2%)
    • Playing Away - Adele Parks (0%)
    • Kiss Mummy Goodbye - Joy Fielding (3.8%)
    • The Safe House - Nicci French (0%)
    • The Perfect Husband - Lisa Gardner (11.5%)

I voted for jodi picoult book but it is a weepie so maybe not such a holiday read?

Also oddly enough on jodi picoults book she states "the notebook" as the worst book ever written and worst book to have on your shelf! Never read it myself so would be interested to know what you think!

I went for The Food of Love.

I took Labyrinth to Cuba with me thinking it would be a good read for the long plane journey etc however the story alternates between two places in time and each time it flipped from one to the other it was like getting used to a new book so took some concentration.  It's a lovely book and well worth the read but I wish I had read it in the peace and quiet of home instead of a busy plane and poolside - it took me a week to read even though I was reading for at least 4 hours a day.

I didn't  vote as I don't know any of the books except Labyrinth and as windysisters says you need to keep your head as to where you are in it and it is a loooong read

I voted for Notebook as I think it's a lovely story and I really enjoyed it (I do think the movie is better thou).

And regarding Jodi Picoult's comment about the book, I don't agree at all. I read one of her books and absolutely hated it, so to me her books would be the worst to have on my shelf.

I went for the Jodi Piccoult as I read it so quickly although it is a bit of a weepie!

I voted for the Perfect Husband - an excellent read and a real page turner!

Have read Labyrinth - (good but a huge tome and not exactly light reading) and My Sister's Keeper - would recommend this one also.
