Are there any authors similar to R J Ellory

Could anybody recommend any authors that might be similar to R J Ellory. I really enjoy this author and am struggling to find another author like him.

    Thanks for your help

I read The Memory of Running by Ron McLarty a while ago and although it's not a thriller and it's not located in Southern USA there are some similarities in the "deep USA" atmosphere and the characterisation.

You may want to give this a go?

I've only read A Quiet Belief in Angels by RJE so can't claim to know his style completely.  However that book reminded my of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.  Also the style reminded me of David Guterson.  In turn, DG has been compared to Truman Capote.

I've just started reading A Quiet Belief and t hink I am going to really enjoy it,. As soon as I started reading it I was put in mind of John Steinbeck. The South and the descriptive passages make you think you are reading a Steinbeck book.
