I just found this website - http://www.meetup.com/ - it's not just for book clubs, but all sorts of clubs such as walking, games etc....

I'm thinking about setting up my own group which you can easily do on here.

Edit: I just tried setting-up up a group and they want my money, which they won't be getting!!!  How very annoying...

The reading group I used to go to was organised through Meetup - I've never heard the organiser say he had to pay for it though.

You could always try Yahoo Groups instead.
