Ads?? Sorry, you've got me Mrs Mac (or Old-Fashioned...!)  I'm not getting any more ads than usual on here.  Have I missed something??

But yes, you're right, the ads are the only way the site owners can raise enough money to keep the site running and pay for the upgrades to new servers etc when we need it. 

If that is what it takes to keep the site running and being free to use, then I don't mind at all.

 (Not what potential advertisers want to read, but I find it quite easy to ignore them unless they are those pop up ones).

We've had the adverts running for quite some time now, and tbh I don't really view them much ... I think it's clever though that the book adverts match the books being discussed..in the threads

Wish I hadn't started now!  I haven't got any ads on my screen at all this afternoon.  But this morning there were lots, along the top and down the side.  If I sign on on my work computer, they are always there, but at home I wasn't getting any until today.  So I posted my message and now the damn things have disappeared.

 I've had the ads for ages too.  They dont bother me -Andy and Neil need the revenue to keep the site free. I do chuckle sometimes though as quite often the ads are relevant to the thread title - has anyone else noticed that?

This sounds very strange - I just get the ads across the top and down the left hand side, and have had those for months now.  I've been looking round the past few minutes but honestly can't see any difference...   I wonder if it depends what browser you use or something?

I haven't had the ones down the left side before, although have had the top+bottom ones for ages! How very bizarre!!

Could be, but pretty sure I would have noticed sooner, as the entire page has been shunted over to the right! To further confuse the issue, I think I had them initially, and they then disappeared until today.

Dare I say it, but I think what you see depends on your set up and your pop-up blocker. I get some ads but the other day got chucked out as my security hadn't tested the site but that listed was the name of an ad site, then when I tried a bit later had no problems.

And yes Anne, the google ads do seem to be linked to the thread title, but sometimes inapproriately. I once saw an ad for haemarroid treatment on a thread about TBR "piles"!!!
