Anyone in the Cheltenham / Gloucester area?

I moved to Cheltenham a few months ago and have been looking for a reading group. It doesn't look like there are any already in the area so I'm thinking about trying to set one up. Is there anyone in or around this area that might be interested?

Hi!! I'm in Cheltenham too! And as far as I know we are the only ones! never seen anyone from Gloucester either - though surely there must be someone else locally...

I'm in Charlton Kings - where are you?

As for book groups, there are a few but they seem to be full. I recently enquired about one that meets at Moran's on the Bath Road. There used to be one based at the Red Cross bookshop on the bath Road too, not sure if it's still there. The Friends of the Literature festival also have a couple of groups, but obviously you have to join the Friends. I have, but don't go to the Book Groups as I would prefer the afternoon one rather than the evening one and it's full. I have my own small book group which is just for me and some close friends - but if you started anything I would love to join you.

I live in Bath and my very small local library (not the main one) runs a book group, it's not very well advertised but there may be a local one near you too

I'm in Malvern, in the south of Worcestershire so not too far away either. Not sure about book groups, but might be nice to all meet up sometime.

Am slightly further afield in Exeter, so regular meeting wouldn't be practical, but agree with Heidi that an occasional get together would be good? We're less than 2 hours from Gloucester, with friends who live there, so quite feasible for me to meet in the area.

i agree, it would be nice to meet up with some fellow swappers...not many people i know are avid book lovers!!  my mother in law lives in stroud so would be no problems getting to the area either (not that it's far!)

I am in Bristol so although regula meets might be a bit tricky it would be good to organise a local meet sometimes?  I meant to organise this but haven't found the time yet but maybe we could during the summer?

We did try for a Bristol meet, didn't we? Perhaps it's time to try again....I'd love to meet you all

Yes I think it would be a good idea to try and arrange something as it would be great to meet some local-ish booklovers!

I'd definately be up for a meet up even if regular meetings aren't practical.

We could think about a get-together during the Cheltenham Literary festival in October?

    Hi

I have only recently joined and I saw you post and wondered if you managed to set up a book group, If you have I would be interested in joining.  I live in the Forest of Dean and work in Gloucester.  I have become a real book addict lately and it would be great to find others to share it with. I am currently reading intensity by Dean Kootz.

Look forward to hearing from you.

We never did all get together us Gloucestershire folk! Perhaps it's time to think of something, even if it's just a local "swap meet"?

Maybe in the New Year? Gloucester or Bristol?
