    First Swap Challenge

Many members will remember we did this before, but I thought as we have so many new members it would be fun to start it again.

Basically, you look back at your completed swaps and see if you've read the first book you got by swap and then set yourself a date to read it by.  If you've read your first swap but want to join in you can just use the earliest un-read swap (which is what I'll be doing as I have read my first few swaps).

My swap was for Gorky Park

    Agreed Date: 15/09/2006

Date to read by: 30 April 2008

    excellent idea Wendy!

I don't have the first book I swapped for anymore so the next unread swapped book will be Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz (swap agreed 30/7/06). I'm actually quite pleased it is this one rather than my first swap which would have been Love is a Four Letter Word by Claire Calman as I gave that away a couple of weeks ago as I no longer fancied it!

To be read by end of March.

I won't be able to take part in this as I gave my first swap away.... unread!

Me neither Frangi.  My first swap was for a book called Honeymoon (don't think it's the James Patterson one).  Haven't the foggiest who it's by, or where it's gone!

Hehe... I think I came up with this one last year and then completely failed it by not reading my first swap!!  I still have the book (Captain Correlli), just have no idea when I'll be in the mood for it... :q5:

    Re: First Swap Challenge

I've read my first 11 swaps.  Number 12 is The Orchard on Fire (Shena Mackay) - not really sure why I got this one as I've never felt tempted to read it (lol!), but I will try and get through this AND swap number 13 (Playing for Sardines by Michele Roberts) by the end of March.   They've both been on the TBR pile since July 2006 Embarrassed

How strange!  I have just today started reading my first swapped book which was agreed 6.1.08 - Snowball Oranges, One Mallorcan Winter by Peter Kerr.  I aim to finish it 12.2.08!  Or is that cheating?!

Shona, Janice et al - you can join in using your oldest un-read swap instead if you want!

    Re: First Swap Challenge

Thats what I'm doing as I swapped my first one recently as I'd lost interest in it.  How strange a lot of us swapped our first swap without reading it though.

Good idea, Wendy! My first unread swap which isn't part of a series - and must therefore be read in order - is No Birds Sing by Jo Bannister (02/09/2006). I have at least one other of hers on the TBR so will attack the Birds next!

    Re: First Swap Challenge

This is my 12 th swap that remains unread from 6/9/2006...it is Sea Music by Sara Macdonald.....don't know why I've not read this, other than the font is quite small. I have read and enjoyed all her other books.

Will read by end of March 2008...possibly...!!:q34:

    Re: First Swap Challenge

My first one - in May 2006 - was The Sex Life of my Aunt, which (I'm kind of proud to say...) I read and swapped.  The second was Madeleine Wickham's Cocktails for Three (also May 06) which is still sitting there untouched.  By the end of March (maybe)?

    Re: First Swap Challenge

My first swap was Moonlight Becomes You by Mary Higgins Clark

    Agreed date:  19/08/07

To be read by the 30/04/08 (I have some other books I've borrowed from my sister to get out of the way, plus I'm down for a couple of mobile library books and I have one of Josie's).

The odd thing is I read and swapped the second one ages ago.
