CAPITAL author Ian Rankin will be the star attraction at Scotland’s first international crime writing festival next month.
The 31 events being held as part of Bloody Scotland, from September 14-16, are on track to sell out.
Dozens of bestselling authors, including Chris Brookmyre, Val McDermid and William McIlvanney, will be taking part in seminars, debates and readings over the three days in Stirling.
One event, The Big Debate, will see Inspector Rebus creator Rankin and fellow authors discuss the question “Would you Kill to Win the Man Bloody Booker?”
Glasgow-born author Gordon Brown said: “Bloody Scotland is shaping up to be a cracking festival. With some of the best crime writers in the world, a magical set of events, all set in a wonderful location, it’s no surprise that tickets are going fast.”
The festival will take place in the Stirling Highland Hotel with headline events in the Albert Halls and masterclasses at Stirling University.
The first Scottish Crime Book of the Year Award will also be handed out, while aspiring writers will be able to pitch their crime novel ideas to industry experts.
