Read the Harrold Robbins as a teen and liked it, not so sure I would now though!

I only got around 30 pages into The Forbidden Island before I gave up.  I'm now reading An Inventory of Heaven by Jane Feaver

I finished The Girl you Left Behind by Jojo Moyes this morning and made a nice 90 plus page start on The Risk of Darkness by Susan Hill while sat in the garden this afternoon.  I wasn't overly blown away with the Jojo Moyes book.

Mr Grey I don't mind at all if Henry Cavill plays you.

I couldn't get up this morning until I'd finished the excellent Cedilla (Adam Mars-Jones).  This was a looooong book but with hardly an unnecessary word; Mars-Jones uses so much detail to create his characters and their lives that it's impossible for the reader not to inhabit the book completely and feel totally involved.  My only regret is that there is clearly so much more of John Cromer's epic lifestory to be told, but there is absolutely no sign yet of the third volume :q11:.  I shall be checking fantasticfiction avidly....!

Next I think I'll read a recent Kindle purchase (£1.09 in the current sale) - Harry Lipkin PI: The World's Oldest Detective, by Barry Fantoni:

He might not be the fastest PI in Miami, but Harry Lipkin is definitely the oldest. Harry's specialty is taking on the cases the police just aren't interested in - and his latest case is a doozy. Someone on the staff of wealthy widow Norma Weinberger is stealing from her. Nothing fancy, no diamond encrusted teapots or anything, but enough to rattle her. Harry takes on the case, navigating his way - gingerly - through a twilight world of boxing, gambling and gangs to find the truth. Elegantly written and illustrated throughout by the author, Harry Lipkin is a life-affirming tale of ageing and mortality as well as a laugh-out-loud whodunit. The fact that the guy keeps his gun next to his false teeth should tell you a lot.

Finished Bad Blood by Lorna Sage in bed last night, it was an ok read, but not particularly special

Next up, on to my challenge books for this month Crewel Lye by Piers Anthony in bed/carry around, and another chunk of A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth whilst in my chair! (It's just too ungainly in size to carry, or to read whilst squished onto a bottom bunk!!)

Reading Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James.  Everyone seems to be reading it at the moment and I suppose curiosity got the better of me, especially as it was lent to me from a work colleague.

The Last Watch  (Sergei Lukyanenko) was great - luckily there is another book coming out in February!

Now reading The Laughter of Dead Kings by Elizabeth Peters, a late addition to the Vicky Bliss series. Great fun read as ever and the author makes a disguised appearance.

absolutely loved this book when I read it. It's certainly different, had me intrigued, laughing and groaning all at the same time. I was at art school at the time and it appealed to my sense of humour. might give it another go. Maryxx

I've not had much luck with book choices over the past few days and have given up on An Inventory of Heaven by Jane Feaver too.   I'm now a good way into The Thoughts and Happenings of Wilfred Price by Wendy Jones and am enjoying it so far

88 pages in and i've given up on The Stranger's Child, can tell it's a chore so not worth carrying on with when I feel like that.

I'm part way through Wuthering Heights and need to choose another book to start tonight. Not sure what yet though...

I gave up on that last month. I actually got to 150 pages and can tell you that nothing happened between page 88 and page 150. Glad it isn't just me!! I am struggling through Oscar Wilde and the Dead Man's Smile by Gyles Brandreth at the moment. Not as good as numbers 1 and 2 in the series.

Currently Reading: The Burning Air by Erin Kelly.
