Time to squeeze in just one more (very) short book before the end of the month - Waiting for Mr Right, a little volume of short stories by Andrew Taylor which I picked up the other day in Kindle version for 98p, along with one or two others of his early novels that have recently been kindlized and put out at a similarly low price.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading

Enjoying The Guilty One by Lisa Ballantyne.
Now started 'Grey Walker'.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading

Gave up on Crisis Four by Andy McNab. I really enjoyed Remote Control - the first one that I was excited to read another but there was just too much war in this one and I couldn't get my head round it.

So now started Hello Darkness by Sarah Brown. Very sinister story - just getting into it so can't tell any more. This is a large print book and I took it on the bus with me yesterday, and the person across the isle and next to me, seemed as though they were reading it too. So I had to put it away as the text was rather graphic, and I was rather embarrassed,....so my bus ride there and back was bookless.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading

Finished The Village (Nikita Lalwani) which was really a very mixed bag for a short book. The naivety of the 'heroine' in the face of the horrors of reality TV was breathtaking but it did keep me reading.

Now into another Vine book: Hidden by Kendra Elliot. Set in Oregon this concerns a beautiful, petite, forensic orthodontist (have we had one of those before?) who happens to be on hand when the skeleton of her best friend, kidnapped 10 years before, is discovered. Not quite sure where this one is going - romantic, forensic crime? It reads pretty well so far.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading

I abandoned the CD of Love Always by Harriett Evans because of the awful voices.
I'm now 100 pages into The Silver Dark Sea by Susan Fletcher - I didn't think she could top Witch Light (Corrag) for beautiful prose but it's looking increasingly likely.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading

kat2011:
