    Starting Over - Sue Moorcroft

    Amazon description

New home, new friends, new love. Can starting over be that simple? Tess Riddell reckons her beloved Freelander is more reliable than any man - especially her ex-fiancé, Olly Gray. She's moving on from her old life and into the perfect cottage in the country. Miles Rattenbury's passions? Old cars and new women! Romance? He's into fun rather than commitment. When Tess crashes the Freelander into his breakdown truck, they find that they're nearly neighbours yet worlds apart. Despite her overprotective parents and a suddenly attentive Olly, she discovers the joys of village life and even forms an unlikely friendship with Miles. Then, just as their relationship develops into something deeper, an old flame comes looking for him ... Is their love strong enough to overcome the past? Or will it take more than either of them is prepared to give?

    Review

Haven't read this much chick lit in ages, and this is a really good one.  Strong characters, a lovely country setting, a superb villain in Olly, a to-die-for romantic lead in Ratty (oh, but the name!), twists, turns, nearly heartbreak, tears, funny bits, and the best of endings.  If you like Veronica Henry or Katie Fforde you'll love this one...

What a great review! Thanks very much, Annie. I have been in love with Ratty for some time so it's great to see other people appreciate him! :-)

I hope everyone else who reads it as a result of this review enjoys it as much as you.

    Best wishes,

    Sue

Sue, how lovely to see you dipping in.  As you can tell, I loved it!

If you're still around, can you tell me if you're the same Sue Moorcroft who wrote Uphill All The Way? You might notice that Linda Gillard a pretty regular contributor and we were delighted to have Adrienne Dines pop in too, so it's piqued our interest in the back catalogue! Personally though, I'm waiting eagerly for your new book on writing...not too long till retirement and would really appreciate some tips as that's what I'd love to do...

Yes, that's me! Uphill All the Way was my first novel. Linda is very active on the net, so I'm not surprised to see her here, or Adrienne. Both have a lot of good writing related information to share.

My 'how to' book about writing is 'Love Writing - How to Make Money Writing Romantic or Erotic Fiction' and will be out with Accent Press on 4 January 2010. In fact, they're trying to get it out before Christmas but there are only so many hours in the day. It's a busy time, for me! But in a really nice way.

Choc Lit hope to bring out my next book, All That Mullarkey, in April 2010. Ratty makes a cameo appearance in that, too. I don't know if you know but Choc Lit like their heroes to be likened to chocolate. Ratty is a Lion Bar because he's a bit spiky, multi-layered, and is known to snarl occasionally. I've been trying to think what Justin, from All That Mullarkey, will be. He's quite a complex and mercurial character so, so far, I've come up with a Twirl for the complexity or a Double Decker for the different textures. Perhaps I could go on a chocolate tour of the supermarket ...

    'Starting Over' by Sue Moorcroft

I've fallen in love with Sue Moorcroft's romance novel, 'Starting Over'.

The writing superb, and the story line is - to say the least - completely compelling and addictive.

Her characters, even the secondary ones, are so well formed and I found myself more immersed in their lives than I ever have been with another novel.

I love it when I come across a novel that I just can't put down, and this one certainly didn't leave my hands for long (a girl's gotta get her sleep!)

    Has anyone else read it?
