Seventeen-year-old Ever is the sole survivor of a car crash that killed her entire family. Living with her aunt in Southern California, she's plagued by the ability to hear the thoughts of those around her, and haunted by the ghost of her little sister. She tries to tune everyone out, shunning her old lifestyle as the pretty, popular cheerleader, but somehow she can't hide from Damen, the new guy at school. Stunningly handsome, clever and not a little bit intimidating, there's something about him that doesn't quite add up. Ever realises he's hiding something, but nothing could prepare her for the truth - especially when the truth involves past lives, murderous enemies, everlasting love and the secret of eternal youth . . .
Well this book was just eh.
I really thought I was going to enjoy this but I just found it a bit long winded and annoying. I liked the character of Ever and her friends but tbh I didnt really like Damen. He was far too shallow and self obsessed as far as a "hero" goes. Yes he admitted to these faults but (and I cant help but compare to Twilight) I cant see Edward ever moving onto another woman if Bella died, over and over again...yet Damen loves her so much apparently yet he obviously could, and he kept going back to the person who was killing Ever over and over...all a bit odd really. And Drina was just annoying as a bad guy...and really very predictable.
Also the pyschic aspect wasnt really explained away and even though there was a colour chart in the front explaining the colours of auras...the aura thing was hardly in the book and the couple of mentions it had, an explanation was with it. So seemed a bit pointless.
Saying that though I would probably read the next book, but only to see if things improve, as series of books have a tendency to improve...but I wouldnt go out of my way to buy it or anything.
