Really enjoyed Drifting South by Charles Davis. Got up extra early and started The Other Hand by Chris Cleave. It was supposed to be a holiday read but I couldn't resist it any longer.

Paw prints on my heart.

I was quite disappointed by Emily Perkins' Novel About My Wife, luckily it was a short read. I'm now quite well into The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville and enjoying it so far.

Bad night sleep-wise, so I finished Mourn Not Your Dead by Deborah Crombie, good continuation of the Kincaid/James series, and then started in on something rather heftier: American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
MySwaps My TBRNow reading: Births, Deaths & Marriages bt Jill McGown "I simply want government to know its place. A state, or a political party, is a means to an end. The end has to be determined by non-political values, or politics becomes a snake gagging on its own tail." Ross Macdonald

Finished Birthday Girls by Annabel Giles which I really enjoyed - very light and frothy read but a bit of a contrived ending! Still enjoyed it though.
Was going to start The Second Wives Club by Jane Green but had left it in the bathroom and couldn't be bothered to get up and get it so started Hit Reply by Rocki St Claire which is a novel comprised of Emails and IMs - very easy to read but not as good as Holly's Inbox.

Just finished the HUGELY enjoyable 'The Last To Know' by Melissa Hill. I'm sure this will feature amongst my top picks for July.
I've taken 'Out of Love' by Diana Appleyard off my bookshlle to read next. I was recommended this book by a friend a while ago and think it's about time I can tell her I've finally read it.

There seems to be a war theme to my reading at the moment. I've finished Guernica by Dave Boling and A Whispered Name by William Brodrick - both excellent - and I'm now well into The Rescue Man by Anthony Quinn which is also shaping up to be a good one.
Currently reading: Sacrifice - SJ Bolton

Re: Titles,Tasters, Temptations ~ JULY
Earlier this afternoon I finished Night Train to Lisbon. Now I'm reading a YA book that caught my eye in Borders a couple of months ago - Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson. It's the story of a young slave girl during the American War of independence; this is what the blurb says:
Isabel and her sister, Ruth, are slaves. Sold from one owner to the
next, they arrive in New York as the Americans are fighting for their
independence, and the English are struggling to maintain control. Soon
Isabel is struggling too. Struggling to keep herself and her sister
safe in a world in which they have no control. With a rare and
compelling voice, this haunting novel tells not only the story of a
remarkable girl and her incredible strength, but also of a time and
place in which slavery was the order of the day and lives were valued
like weights of meat or bundles of vegetables.

Re: Titles,Tasters, Temptations ~ JULY
I finished Hit Reply by Rocki St Claire earlier - read it in a day!! Despite what I said earlier about it not being as good as Holly's Inbox - well I take that back and I really enjoyed it. I was a totally lazy mare today and just lay around reading!
I started The Second Wive's Club by Jane Moore and it seems like a nice easy to read, piece of chicklit - just the thing for a lazy Sunday
