Thanks for the suggestions. It would make it a lot better though. I could be waiting forever for someone to want one of my books in exchange for the one that I want of theirs. It reminds me of Multi Coloured Swap Shop. You're desparate for an amstrad/spectrum/commodore, but no one wants to swap with your roller-skates!!

It might also help if you had a few more books on your list to swap

Aw bless I hate when that happens, you should definately try and builk up your list a bit though, the more you have(variety) the more likely you are to get a swap. Try bookmooch or one of those sites you might have better luck

More books would help with your problem. I also noticed that you only joined today and that date might be the date you joined the Forums and not the date you logged in your books ready for swapping. I was going to say 'maybe you were being a little hasty expecting someone to want your books on the first day with not much choice is expecting a lot in my opinion.'
I was just looking back to see how long I had been a member before I had my first swap and according to my completed swaps it looks like my first swap was before I joined RISI. Maybe the date that appears by my name is the date I joined the Forums and not the date I logged my books for swapping.
Mr Grey I don't mind at all if Henry Cavill plays you.

You currently have 4 books to swap. I think around 20 would be a good number to start the swaps coming in. Have a look in charity shops for a start. I always look for books in good/excellent condition, and that I think others might be interested in (not that I would necessarily read). Have a look around the family. Any that they might want to pass on? Never say no, someone may want that book!
I'm afraid the title of the site rather gives it away (ReadItSwapIt), and you will soon get some swaps rolling in if you give members a wee bit more choice! Good luck.

As the others have said, the more books you have to swap the more chance you will get your desired book. I for one would hate this site to change, and there are plenty of points sites out there if that's more to your liking.

The books-for-points debate has been aired at length several times in the past and the overwhelming view of members is that they like readitswapit exactly the way it is. As the others have said, there are other sites out there that have a books-for-points system, though in my experience they have far fewer books available than this site, which is perhaps a natural drawback of such a system - books go as soon as they're added in many cases, leaving members with lots of points but nothing to spend them on. I find it much harder to get books I want on Bookmooch than I do on here. Besides, if no one wants the books you're offering, you'd be no better off with a points system, as you wouldn't have any points to "buy" books with if you can't swap yours out in the first place!
So try beefing up your swap list - I think 20 books is the minimum you need to offer to have a decent chance of getting a swap so trying begging some unwanted books from friends and family, or raid the charity shops for some decent-quality books to get you started. If you can find any books on the Most Popular list to round out your selection, I can guarantee you'll soon be inundated with swaps. Good luck.

I agree that risi is better kept as a book for book swapping site rather than a points system. I enjoy the thrill of chasing down a book I really want, the rejections are part of the fun !
Book mooch is an excellent site if you would rather have books for points.
I agree that the better choice of books you have, the easier you will find swapping. Good Luck.

I like the simplicity of this site, that you just swap books directly rather than get involved with points. I don't use Bookmooch as I don't want to get involved with that system personally though others like it.
I think what the others have said about getting some more books added would really help you. I have on average 20 books on my list and I would say I get about 1 in 6 swaps I requests - but it's worth it when you do get a book you want!
