    how to rate a book

I have realised that I might be rating my books back to front 10 being top quality and 1 being worst quality. What is correct? Thanks

I assume you mean the rating you have to give when you list a book, in which case, since it's out of ten, 10/10 is the highest score for a book you've really enjoyed and 1/10 the lowest for one you absolutely hated.  However, this function on the site is still under development and not working properly at the moment, although you still have to fill it in to list a book.

I know it doesn't work, penny, but once it is up and running, how will it work? Will there be a highly reccomended section on the library, or something?

The way it used to work (though not very well!) was there was a link to your own personalised recommendations, a bit like the link on Amazon.  I think they found, though, that it was recommending pretty well the same books to everyone, thanks to some sort of gremlin in the system, which is why it isn't up and running at the moment.  But it is still on the long-term project list for the admin guys, I believe, so it's worth being reasonably accurate with your book scores, in the hope that one day they will get it up and running with some interesting personalised recommendations.

That must've been a long time ago. I've been on here for nearly two years and don't remember ever getting book recommendations. I hope they get it up and running, it would be quite interesting to see what they make of my madness!

Oh no.....I always just put in "1", as it's never worked in all the time I've been a member, and that must be about 2 years now!

Yes, it definitely used to work - I remember getting quite a few recommendations, then when comparing to others, we realised that we were all getting the same books recommended to us!!

:lool: Mine will be similarly random, as I used to put 6 for everything, and now just pick any old number... We'll wait and see what they recommend... Hmm

Perhaps when the best comes we could have a "worst recommendation" contest.

I remember that the recommendations worked for a few weeks after I joined, but they never recommended anything remotely interesting to me.

Would be good if they can get it up and running though. I usually do put a fairly accurate figure in the box, working or not.

Like the 'worst recommendation' idea too!
