seanat:Well you've all got me and i'm sure many others really excited about this. Don't you just love it when there's something fantastic out there waiting for you? I think my library is processing it, will grab it asap. It will definitely be a keeper for me Liz - you are welcome to borrow it if you dont get hold of a copy from the Library - it's quite a large hardback.

Thanks Anne, Elaine kindly offered too. But if it's likely to be a keeper for me as well , then i'm better off borrowing, for free, from the library and mooching/swapping for a keeper copy whenever it becomes more readily available.

Finished The Revenge of Captain Paine yesterday - I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, for some reason, so it was a relief to finish it!
Now I'm reading The Unbearable Lightness of Scones which the wonderful pinkpoppy has loaned me. Very much enjoying it so far.

Now reading Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. Don't know quite why but this author sucks me in right from the start.

dingsy:Liz, I've never even re-read a book before (not intentionally anyway), never mind as soon as I'd finished it! But this one was just so stunning, and I felt that because I was reading it so quickly, that I wanted to go back and savour certain sections of it-other chapters I admit I whizzed through on a second reading. It's such a fantastically well written book-you would think that it would be horrific and dark...but it's not. It's a moving testament to the power of love, and had me in tears on more than one occasion. This guy has talent...
You've read it twice and I think we started it at the same time? I'm still 100 pages to go - I dont want it to finish. I am actually finding it quite exhausting - so much to take in and so well written - I keep holding my breath wondering what will be on the next page. I am really blown away by this book. No review that I can write will ever do it justice - I am quite wordless!
I think I might have been slightly ahead of you in starting! I tried to restrict myself on the first reading, as I didn't want it to end, but found myself getting so hooked in that I couldn't put it down. Second time around was more of a skim through, lingering over certain passages and chapters-particularly the narrator's hallucinatory journey through Hell. I can't believe myself that I read it twice-hope he writes another one before too long. It's simply amazing to think that this is his debut novel-what potential.....
Currently reading,"World Without End", Ken Follett

I'm really thrilled that you both feel like I did about this one. It really is an incredibly powerful first novel, and one of those I want to tell everyone about!

Re: Currently Reading ~ September
Still reading The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory - have hardly had any time to read this week! Hopefully will get a lot of reading done over the long weekend (and homework, of course ). Started rereading It's OK, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers! by Louise Rennison this afternoon, as I needed some fluff. Also started reading Angel's Rest by Charles Davis this week, hoping that it could be useful for English, but amn't really feeling inspired to read it. I think I've read about 20 pages and still amn't being sucked into it.
Swaps Wish ListBook count for this year: 113 Book count for October: 17 Book count for November: 7 Currently Reading: Jo's Boys by Louisa May Alcott
