    Twilight - Stephanie Meyer

    Twilight - Stephanie Meyer.

    Some Spoilers Smile

Since it seems the entire internet has read this, I thought it was time to join the masses.

Before I get started, I'll give it this: it's an easy read and I didn't hate it.

I did find it hilariously bad. The endless purple prose about Edward, with his 'scintillating arms', 'golden eyes', 'lavender lids' and sparkle of a million diamonds. He might as well have been a cardboard cut-out, anyway.

Bella is less cardboard, but more ridiculous. She is so stunning that not a single male in the novel can resist her. She spends her time fainting, crying, being rescued and showering. Really, there's a LOT of showering. If someone knows why I'd love to know. She decides and accepts Edward is a vampire with no problems. Edward stalks her. A lot. But it's okay, because it's romantic stalking.

See I almost feel bad now, because it's just *too* easy to mock.

Must admit that I was wondering if I should read this to see what all the fuss is about. Many, many thanks for putting my mind at rest.

I have to admit that I quite enjoyed it, and the bits that annoyed me were the slushy bits (but then I remember that I'm a tad older than the target audience!).  I read it in 24 hours and got into it more once the visiting vampires arrived.

Not sure how interested I am in reading the rest..................it's no Kelley Armstrong!

My little one loved it so much she went out and bought the whole series with her pocket money. She is into the whole vampire thing and thought she would hate the slushy bits but they actually brought tears to her eyes!!!

Someone just offered to swap me this book, so I'll finally get to find out what all the fuss is about. I have a friend who's thirteen, and she said that her best friend thinks that Meyer's novels are THE BEST BOOKS EVER. Hope, however, just thinks they're okay, and I reckon my opinion will be somewhere along those lines - especially as most teenage fiction annoys me, even though I'm still technically a teenager.

Pixieholopainen, have pm'd you about swap :q15:

I loved this book and I'm 38!  The slushy bits, I agree, did get a bit nauseauting at times but overall, I'm so glad I succumbed to the hype and read it.  I definitely want to read the others now!  And thanks to Josette for swapping me in the first place :q37:

Just got a copy of this from mooncrab so I can finally see what all of the hype is about. I've just read over the review which the thread-starter gave and it sounds like a Sweet Valley High book, just not set in the 80s and with vampires! This should be fun... Smile
