Some good books there, i wanted to vote for loads but picked The Food of Love

i voted for the boy in striped pyjamas thought it was an excellent read

What a fantastic selection, no wonder you are having trouble. I have liked Boy in the striped pj's and My sisters keeper but both are a bit harrowing so perhaps not so good on hols. Equally Pillars is fabulous but if you don't get into it you are lugging a brick around!

On that basis, my favourite is Esme Lennox, with these close behind:

Tractors of the Ukranian

Thirteenth Tale
The Observations (reminded me a bit of The Fingersmith if you've read that)

the perfect husband by lisa gardner is a brill book

There is some great books on your list. I voted for A Thousand Splendid Suns because I thought it was brilliantly written and I think that it will stick in my mind for a long time to come.

Some good ones here but my vote goes to" A short history of tractors in ukranian"- an awful title but a fab book.  I came by it on the radio 4 book of the week some time ago-and had to read it myself. V. amusing and a great read. Perfect for holidays. Trust me you will love it.
