    Private Messaging

    Hiya,

I have arranged my 1st swap and I want to make sure I do it properly so I would like to check with the other person how they prefer the book to be packaged I just wanted to check if there is a way to send a message to another member on this site or if I should just e-mail them?

    Thanx

You could use the From Me To You thread on the forums, or if you click on the user name of the person you have arranged to swap with, it will fetch up a page with some info on the member and on the left there is a box with options, one of which is Send this person a private message.  Click that and bobs your uncle.

Good luck with your first swap, next week you'll have at least 7!!

    Re: Private Messaging

Not all RiSi members use the forum so they might not see a Private Message - an email might be a better way of getting in touch.

    Re: Private Messaging

I needed to contact somebody recently who doesn't post to the forum and discovered that the 'email other member' option worked a treat - it went straight to their hotmail account

What is the e mail other member option, please?

someone has a book that I've been looking for for ages and I want so much (!) that I'd be really happy to offer them 2 of my books for that one, or go out and get a book from their wishlist - is there any way I can get this message to them?  They don't have a community profile so I didn't think I could send them a private message - but I've just come across this post

    thanks

    Hi Jackie

I've replied on your other thread about this.  Unfortunately my answer here is going to be almost identical - you can only contact other members, either by PM or by the email option, if they have set up a community profile.  If they have, then when you open that profile you will see a link to PM them or to send them an email.  But if they haven't got a community profile, there's no way of getting in touch with them, I'm afraid.  (However, see my suggestion on your other post about trying to get hold of this book!)
