    no description

Several times when someone has wanted to do a swap I have loked at all their books and found 'no description' under the book details. Clicking on Amzon has in the past sometimes produced a description of what the book is about. However, today there was nothing on the members list that I knew anything about so twice I clicked the amazon link for info and just found myself on the amazon site to but books and no mention of the book that I needed to know about. So reluctantly gave up on the swap. Having previously clicked 'no books I want' this time I tried 'other reasons' in the hope there would be a means to explain. But no. It seems to be very common for people not to explain about a book except its condition.. Perhaps when listing they think members can get an amzon descriotion. After all everyone wants others to come and swap but no one wants to get a book just on a title or author they have never heard of without explanation of any sort.

I totally agree with you Daff and whenever I have listed a book which doesn't automatically come up with a description I have typed in my own by using a few phrases from the cover blurb.

I believe there is an option, when turning down a request, to say "there wasn't enough information about the books" - choosing that option might nudge the swapper into looking at their lists more closely

I agree too, Daff. It's highly irritating when you can't find anything out about a book, even from google, and it surely means these books are very unlikely to swap. Sometimes a title intrigues me and I do take a chance, but even a short description would be a help. I know people say they have no time to put in descriptions, but a few words wouldn't take that long - even a note that the swapper had themselves enjoyed the book.

I also find that sometimes Amazon comes up without a blurb, but if you click 'alternative descriptions' it will sometimes come up with one, or even a choice!

You're not the only one who feels like this. Have a look at this thread which is one of the more recent on this subject!
