    Re: DAVE ROBERTS CHAT

Hi Dave, really pleased you're here to talk to us... I'll start things off with some questions from Windysisters who can't be here this evening...

    1.  What is the reasoning behind having days and times at the head of each section.  They don't always seem to be in logical order or with the right amount of time between.  Also some of the sections refer to the past (his ex wife for example) and so the day/time is irrelevant.  This isn't meant as a criticism I just wondered........

    2.  Is the story autobiographical in anyway?

    Re: DAVE ROBERTS CHAT

Thanks for the question, Miss M. I'll start with the easy part - yes, a bit autobiographical in that I spent far too much time in chatrooms in the late 90s. The first 30 pages or so are personal experience, but the rest is made up based on people I met. As for the reasoning behind the days/times, I wanted to break the book up into easily digestible pieces, so I nicked the format from Bridget Jones. As you so rightly point out, it doesn't always work.

I think I asked you this on Facebook when you commented on my very short review, but do you have a follow-up book to E-Luv? Smile

    Re: DAVE ROBERTS CHAT

Unfortunately, the publisher has recently gone bankrupt, so the planned sequel is a bit up in the air. I do have another book coming out in August, but as it's about a truly useless football team, it's unlikely to appeal to the majority of those who bought e-luv.

That's a real shame... I was looking forward to finding out what happened next!!!

Did you do a lot of background research by going into chat rooms yourself?  What did you think?

I did do quite a bit of research and it was a real eye-opener. A lot of desperate men, most of whom seemed prone to exaggeration. In the sequel, it's fair to say that then path of true love does not run smoothly for Trevor and Charlotte.

Good morning, Nutty M. Thanks for the welcome. I do indeed have children, although they probably wouldn't call themselves that any more as the youngest is 17. My reading - well, I'm currently reading the latest from Nicci French and, I'm embarrassed to admit, Jeffrey Archer. My guilty pleasure is Chicklit - I really do believe that Sophie Kinsella and Lisa Jewell are two of the most entertaining writers around today.

I can vouch for that, Internet dating doesn't necessarily run smoothly... Tongue Tied

Do you think writing about Internet encounters is classed as fiction or non fiction, seeing how people on the net are usually telling tales?

Thanks Gemsey. Glad you enjoyed the book, especially after checking it on Amazon before I came here and seeing a review from someone who hated it. The new book's about the Bromley team of 1969, which was the worst in the club's history.

I don't particularly rate the reviews on Aamazons, it seems half the people don't seem to actually read the book...much rather the reviews on here Big Smile
