The Pact by Jodi Picoult *SPOILER*

I have just finished this and it was such a gripping read. I wonder what everyone else thought of it. Did you think Chris was guilty? Do you think he should have been let off? Do you think he did the right thing?

I thought he was guilty and should've gone to prison but I can see why Jodi Picoult gave it a happy ending. I think he should've made Emily seek professional help. He shouldn't have "played along" with her suicide idea for as long as he did.

Do one of the characters from this book reoccur in one of her later books and if yes, which one?

ooooh i LOVE jodi picoults books!ITs been a while since I read this one.  I agree that he shouldnt have"played along" but she was intent on doing it and it was her who actually pulled the trigger.....so I agree with the outcome.

Jordan the lawyer reoccurs in salen falls and 19 minutes

I;'ve just bought her new one and cant wait to read it!!

This is the only JP book I have read so far and I thought it was fantastic - very thought provoking.  I was in two minds by the end - deperately wanted Chris to go free but at the same time was very surprised when he did.  In a way they were both very young and naive, and I think that's why he played along with it, because he didn't really know what else to do.

I'll have to get Salme Falls then. I just bought Nineteen Minutes today. What order do they go in?

Salem Falls was written before Nineteen Minutes - but they are both standalones.  They are not a series so you can read them in any order.

I loved 'My Sisters Keeper' - highly recommended, although some don't like the ending!  I thought it was brilliant.  Keep the Kleenex handy!!

Would it in any way spoil Salem Falls if I read Nineteen Minutes first?

Thank you. I am trying to swap for Keeping Faith and Salem Falls now. Some of the older books are really hard to find.

I love Jodi's books but I doubt I will read them again so I always swap them on but I loved The Pact so much, it's going to be sad to let it go. I think The Pact is my favorite of all her's that I've read so far.

I liked the way she had Emily's parents divided over Chris, her mum completely turned against Chris, understandably, BUT her dad felt sympathy for Chris's predicament, which I thought quite real.  The first time I read it I was so sure that Chris was completely innocent and I still find it hard to believe that someone would help someone they love committ suicide...but that's the talking point, it's a totally different question to that of Mercy....but won't say anything more about that.

I'm loving Picoult :) I think they are keepers! I've read a few now: 19 Minutes, Salem Falls, The Pact, I think I enjoyed Salem Falls the most. Just about to start Change of Heart.
