    Jeanne Kalogridis

I started to read books by this author when I discovered The Borgia Bride in a charity shop last year. She writes very good historical fiction along the same lines as Philippa Gregory, sometimes I think she is slightly better !!

She's written several books now and all are well worth a try if you like good historical fiction.

The Burning TimesThe Borgia BridePainting Mona LisaThe Medici QueenThis one is only due in May2008

She has written a series of books about vampires but I haven't read these.

I've looked several times at The Borgia Bride and Painting Mona Lisa - but so far I've always managed to resist.  I might now be weakening, Josie (thank you!!)  I do love a good historical novel - they're more escapist, somehow.

I've wanted to read this for ages and could never get a copy, but managed this week to get it from my library....just 3/4 through it now and I literally can't put it down....it is along the same lines as Phillipa Gregory's The Wise Woman but even darker.....Set in 1340's and is full of  superstition, inquisition and death by fire.....great !!

I loved The Borgia Bride, I didn't know anything about the Borgias before I read it and I found it fascinating.  I enjoyed Painting Mona Lisa but I think I preferred The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant, which is a very similar story.

Although I read The Wise Woman years ago, I can't remember much about it except I really enjoyed reading it.  Have now added the Burning Times to my wishlist and must get around to reading the Borgia Bride soon.

Read The Borgia Bride, which I thought was really good.  Ordered The Medici Queen from Amazon but they couldn't get a copy.  Have now ordered it from the library but they are waiting to get copies!

Managed to get The Burning Times, which I hope to get round to reading soon.
