I'm in Hertford as are 3 other active RISI swappers I know including my mother. Would be great to find a book group or start one up.

I can get to Stevenage too... but not having a car it gets difficult, often I end up in London.

I popped into the Borders in Watford last week. They are starting a new book club, the first meeting is Tuesday 15th July at 7pm, and the fisrt book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khlaled Hosseini. They also have a meeting earlier in the day, but for those who have babies and small children, same book etc, just a more baby-friendly time. Sorry, I didn't make a note of what the earlier time is i'm afraid. Just thought i'd let you all know in case you were interested.

Hi Everyone. I went to the book group last night, and just to let you know, the next group is on Tuesday 12th August, and the next book is The Book Thief. They are also doing a Crime book group. The first meeting is next Tuesday 22nd July, and the book is "Devil May Care" by Sebastian Faulks. If you join you get a card for 10% off in starbucks on book group days, which is nice, and 20% off vouchers for the book group books.

I work in Hoddesdon three days a week so if book group met on Tuesday or WEdnesday nights I could probably make it most of the time.

Let us know if you start one up.

I think I'll look into that book group at Borders in Watford. It's only up the road from me and sounds really interesting. Shame a missed the 1st meeting with A Thousand Splendid Suns, that's one of my all time fave books!

I too may see if I can find out a bit more about this, as this is only about ten minutes away from me, it could be quite fun.

    Re: Hertfordshire

Just to give an update to those of you who are interested in popping along.....the next general fiction book group is on Tues 11th Nov at 7pm, the book is The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. There are about 8-10 people who come to this one, all very friendly, and there's no pressure to talk if you don't want to, people are welcome to pop along and join in if they want. On Tues 18th Nov, again at 7pm is the Crime Book Group, next month is The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld. Again, all very friendly, but a few less people; about 5 or 6 usually, would be lovely to see a few more faces if anyone fancies popping along. They do an historical fiction group too....but i'm only just managing the two a month at the moment!
