Re: Currently Reading from 1st August

I'm on Shamim Sarif's The World Unseen still (very good, but slow going...) before tackling A Land of Two Halves by Joe Bennett for the Leeds Book Group.  Then it's Marsha Mehran's Pomegranate Soup for Shona, and Two Caravans for Sarita. Once I've then read The Bookseller of Kabul (Asne Seierstat) for another on-line discussion group I'm going to read some chick lit or a blood and guts thriller...
Reading: The Household Guide to Dying - Debra Adelaide

    manda:
    wow some serious stuff there...

are you studying ancient britain? or just really interested?

If I say both, will that confuse you?  :q34:  Actually, I am reading as much material as I can about the pre-Christian civilisation of the British Isles, as I am thinking of converting to a Brythonic (or, maybe, Irish) tradition from my current heathen practice.  It requires a lot of thought and some serious study to ensure I am not misled by the personal interpretations of charlatans.   So, I cross-check as much material as I can with archaeological and historical evidence.

So, in a way, I am interested and I am studying, too.  Geeked

I finished Darkly Dreaming Dexter last night - I found the second half more compelling than the first and flew through it.  Great.

Then I started Half of a Yellow Sun - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie which is for my reading group - finding it easier to read than I thought I would.

Currently reading: The Woods by Harlan Coben

Finished HP7 last night and needed a complete change (though most things would be!) so now reading the latest Laurie Graham, "The Importance of Being Kennedy".  I've loved all her books and this looks like being no exception.

Just fnished The Joy Luck Club - Amy Tan. Really really enjoyed it, don't know why it stayed on my TBR for so long
Very touching story of 4 ladies who immigrated to the US from China, about their daughters and the cultural changes between the two generations.

    Sarita

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
