    Of these I really enjoyed:

Enigma - Robert Harris; Shutter Island - Dennis Lehane, and Forever Odd - Dean Koontz.

Also, The Gargoyle sounds really good.

I agree about A Dead Place Wendy, in my journal I put that it was stodgy compared to the previous ones but as you say it got better again with the next one.

I have just finished the second Simon Beckett - Written in Bone and it is at least as good as the first one.

Started reading The Wasp Factory but ended up putting it down. Didn't enjoy it all. Same with interpretation of murder, I only had a couple of chapters to finish but still put it down, thought it lost focus towards the end. I do recommend the Little Friend by Donna Tartt though, quite a long book but it had me hooked. Loads of great characters in it too.

    Re: Sparhawks TBR

The Island by Victoria Hislop A good read, but didn't stay in my head for long afterwards. If you like historical novels then you'll probably like this, as it gives you a lot of information about the history of the island. I preferred the "history" story to the modern one, personally.

Second Glance by Jodi Picoult Loved this book, my second favourite of hers - but I know that a lot of people didn't like it as it was rather different from her usual novels.

The Outcast by Sadie Jones Want to read

No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay On my TBR

Constance by Rosie Thomas Want to read

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamandra Ngozi Adidche Been trying to read this but find it kind of hard to get into - not exactly inspired to continue reading.
