    Re: Terry Pratchett

I find this book a bitt of a slow start.  I've read almost the whole lot of Prachett books.  I haven't read "Making Money" as yet

I've done a few swaps for some of these recently, my daughters bf loves them though they aren't my kind of thing. My dd says it's the only thing she doesn't like about her bf, he reads and it is like being with me, 'hold on till I finish this page':q27:

What's wrong with that? She wouldn't want him to lose his place now would she?Wink

Love these books. It took me a couple of attempts to get into The Colour of Magic, but the effort was well worth it. I've bought every one of the series and they're almost the only author's books that I haven't listed for swaps. Definite keepers. He's an author who is far cleverer than he's given credit for: especially ones in the series like Mort, Thud! and Nightwatch: they are classics.

Terry Pratchett is a bit of a hero to say the least. I have the following available for swapping if anyone needs them (they are not on my swap list as yet but you can pm me if you need one)... Strata, The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Equal Rites, Mort, Sourcery, Wyrd Sisters, Pyramids, Guards! Guards!, Eric, Moving Pictures, Reaper Man, Witches Abroad, SMall Gods, Lords and Ladies, Men at Arms, Interesting Times, Maskerade, Feet of Clay, Hogfather, Jingo, The Last Continent, Carpe Jugulum and The Fifth Elephant. I have some others but they are hardback and whoever bought me them have written messages for me on the inside cover so I don't really want to swap those ones! Having just written all that out, I realise how much I enjoy reading them and may have to delve back in :) Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg are fab

I've never read any Terry Pratchett before but I decided to start easy and am reading the Amazing Maurice and his educated Rodents and so far am loving it.

However I'm quite daunted by the adult Discworld novels probably as there are so many of them and they seem quite complicated, or maybe thats just because of all the fantastical names of people and places. I also usually find series quite off putting as they need to be read in order and normally prefer to read stand alones.

I may try The colour of magic sometime and see how I get along with it.

Hi  Im glad you are enjoying Maurice  my OH is the discworld fan , he says Its best to read them in order first time around because Terry developes characters and themes as the series progresses but they are all written in a similar style to Maurice so they are easy and fun to read . Hope you get into discworld and enjoy it as much as mark
