Parade's End adaptation for BBC
Parade's End adaptation for BBC
A BBC serial adaptation of Ford Madox Ford's tetralogy of novels Parade's End is to launch on Friday (24th August).
Actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Rebecca Hall, Rupert Everett and Miranda Richardson are among the cast for the series, which follows the lives of an English aristocrat and his wife (Cumberbatch and Hall) from the decline of the Edwardian era to the end of the First World War.
The four novels in the sequence—Some Do Not, No More Parades, A Man Could Stand Up and Last Post, all originally published in the 1920s—are out in various print and e-book editions from Penguin, Carcanet and Swift Editions.

Re: Parade's End adaptation for BBC
I'm quite intrigued by this, although I wish I had time to read the books before I watch it. Maybe I'll wait for it to come out on DVD! I read The Good Soldier by Ford Madox Ford many, many years ago, and really liked it.

Re: Parade's End adaptation for BBC
Noticed the trailer for this a few nights ago, and am looking forward to it immensely-very much my type of thing. Some good drama coming up over the next few months, but this one in particular leapt out at me.

I've set my box to record this one, not heard of it before, but it sounds good, and of course, it's Benedict Cumberbatch, so worth watching!!

Re: Parade's End adaptation for BBC
I'm also looking forward to this!
I love this period too!
Having read The Good Soldier a few years ago.
Was hoping to get a copy to read before watching but there are no copies on here yet!
I was looking for the new penguin copy of it.
Not sure why it couldn't be on a Sunday evening though?
Will have to record it as friday is my book club evening!
I've always been an avid reader from an early age. I love the classics but do read other genres as well. Currently reading Greenbanks by Dorothy Whipple.

Definitely looking forward to this. And wasn't there something Annecater posted about "forgotten authors" that included Ford Maddox Ford? Or did I dream that one?

Re: Parade's End adaptation for BBC
I gave up! I've been quite disappointed with it-had hoped it would have picked up after the first episode, but it's not been for me at all. Such a pity, as I was really looking forward to it.
