I don't find it that surprising - because the key part is that it's on Amazon. All three 50 shades books are available to buy at once, whereas the Harry Potter series was ongoing from 1997-2007 - how many people had internet access in the 90s and early 00s? Plus many Harry Potter fans wanted the latest book in their hands as soon as it was released - hence queing up before midnight of release day and pre-ordering in physical shops. They would have had to wait longer to get it from Amazon!
Also lots of people may be embarrassed about their purchase of 50 Shades and use Amazon so that no-one ever has to know...
