I finished The Thoughts and Happenings of Wilfred Price Purveyor of Superior Funerals by Wendy Jones whilst on the train today, really enjoyed it and will add to the review thread later. I'm now quite a few chapters into Amity and Sorrow by Peggy Riley
Look forward to your thoughts on it Anne. I finished The Submission by Amy Waldman and now going to start The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes.

Finished Swansea Terminal (Robert Lewis) and taking the third in the trilogy Bank of the Black Sheep, to read in the bus. Very black comedy, quite exciting and also very sad. Different.

I stayed up with finsomnia to finish Telltale by Sam Hayes last night. Really compelling thriller and well structured too.
I've brought with me to start at lunchime Cold in the Earth by Ann Granger - having now freed my books from storage I need to get cracking with all the detective series I've collected
Sepulchre by Kate Mosse and The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

I didn't like the Monica Ali book Untold Story, I've not liked her writing previously so turned to an oldie for a bit of light entertainment - Cuban Heels by Emily Barr.

Read in one sitting Heft - Liz Moore. Loved it, recommend it.
Next? The Youngstars - Ursula Jones. Childrens' novel about a variety troupe of teenagers and their maestro Mr Piggot ("The Pig") in 1930s Britain.

After a wobbly start I finished The Sick Rose by Erin Kelly and rather enjoyed it, a bit different.
Am now reading Split second by Cath Staincliffe a tense and rather tragic thriller, looking at the tragic aftermath of a crime which has left one young man dead and another in a coma and many lives tinged with pain and trauma - an excellent read so far.

I finished The Risk of Darkness by Susan Hill at lunchtime 8/10. I'm really enjoying this series. I also made a start on Chasing Windmills by Catherine Ryan Hyde which is the last Book Circle book of 11/12.
Mr Grey I don't mind at all if Henry Cavill plays you.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading
Despite one or two minor quibbles, overall I enjoyed Footsteps (Katherine McMahon). I've commented separately on the review thread.
Last night I read a YA book, Tamburlaine's Elephants by Geraldine McCaughrean, a lively and engaging story about a boy who grows up in the war-mongering entourage of Tamburlaine the Great and who ends up caring for the elephants captured in a raid on Delhi. This was the book that first drew McCaughrean to my attention after I'd heard her discussing it with Mariella Frostrup on Radio 4, but it took me a long time to get hold of a cheap copy! Worth waiting for, though.
This morning I've started The Angel's Game (Carlos Ruiz Zafon). I bought this when it came out in hardback and really have no idea why I've not read it before now... Judging by the first three chapters, I think I'm going to love this one.

Re: Titles, Tasters & Temptations - August Reading
Well, on our extended drive yesterday (motorway closed, we got lost, took us 4 hours to get home!!) I managed to read this months section of A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth (along with most of this months issue of Empire magazine, most notably the article about the upcoming Hobbit movie!!!)
Now back to Crewel Lye by Piers Anthony, which I'm about 1/3 through

I finished Amity & Sorrow by Peggy Riley, an interesting, if difficult read - I'm still thinking about my review. I'm now around 50 pages into Trust Your Eyes by Linwood Barclay
