Melissa Hill - The Charm Bracelet
Synopsis Every charm bracelet tells a story and Holly O'Neill knows this better than most. Many years ago she was sent one mysteriously, just a single charm attached. Some time later another charm appeared, and the same happened until the bracelet was almost full. Each charm proved significant, as if her anonymous benefactor knew she needed a little bit of magic in her life. So when Holly stumbles across another bracelet - one that somebody else has lost - she recognizes a lifetime spelt out through the charms, and knows she must try to reunite it with its owner. Using each charm to help discover more about the bracelet's owner, Holly gradually begins to piece together details of this other charmed life. And her quest leads her somewhere she never expected.
My opinion: Melissa Hill is one of my favorite authors so when I heard she was bringing a new book out I was over the moon. I finished the charm bracelet in a day. Normally Melissa Hill books have me gripped from the start but this book didn't do that to me. It took time for it to get into the story and when it did I wasn't surprised at the outcome. However I still like Melissa Hill's writing, and the way she talks about her characters, my favorites were Holly and Danny and also Greg. I liked hearing about Holly's vintage shop and stories behind the clothing. Despite this I look forward to reading more from Melissa Hill.

Re: Melissa Hill - The Charm Bracelet
I received this one from Vine, here's my thoughts:
A heart-warming easy read, set around Christmas time in New York and just the book to settle down with on a cold winter's day. There were some lovely characters, especially Holly and her son Danny who seems wise beyond his years. Holly's mission to try and find the owner of a charm bracelet found in a jacket at the thrift store where she works led us back and forth in time, with each charm having its own story. I did guess the owner of the bracelet quite early in the book and the ending was a tad predictable but it didn't spoil my enjoyment.
I used to have a charm bracelet and I could easily relate to Holly's love of her own bracelet, where each charm had a special meaning for an event in her life. Her empathy and understanding made her the perfect person to try and reunite the lost bracelet with its owner and whilst doing so she makes her own journey to discover the truth about events of her past.
I've read several Melissa Hill books over the years and enjoyed them and this is no exception. The book won't tax your brain but if you want a pleasant and easy read and a few hours escapism in New York then you would probably enjoy this one.

Re: Melissa Hill - The Charm Bracelet
Finally got round to reviewing this one:
One of the one-liners selling this one was “It's perfect
froth for whiling away a few hours on the sun lounger” – I really couldn’t put
it any better. If you read “Something from Tiffany’s” there aren’t any
surprises here – the same likeable kind of characters, the search, the
misunderstandings, the boy meets girl story taking a while to come to
fruition... I’m making it sound like I didn’t like it, but I really did.
Melissa Hill writes fluently and easily, a cut above a lot of other chick lit,
and there’s enough that’s different about this book to make it stand out from
the pack. I loved the vintage clothes store setting, Holly’s imaginings about
each piece of clothing, Greg’s career change + the obnoxious girlfriend, and
the excellently engineered ending. It leaves you with a nice warm feeling – and
it’s a perfect holiday read.

Re: Melissa Hill - The Charm Bracelet
I really loved this one, so my thanks to Karen for sending it to me.
I thought the story was well crafted and I really liked the magical ending. Pure escapism with heartwarming characters who are destined to cross each others paths from even before the beginning of the story
This will almost certainly be one of my favourites that I read in August, I'm pretty sure of that, although I've picked up 8 wishlist books during and since the Meadow hall meet!

Re: Melissa Hill - The Charm Bracelet
It was an easy read, mundane in a lot of places but that suited me nicely as I was having enough excitement going on around me at the time. I loved the description of the vintage clothes store!
