Yes all the books you have already downloaded can be downloaded to your kindle too they should appear in the archive folder.

Yes, when you register your new Kindle to your existing Amazon account, all the ebooks you've already bought will appear in the Kindle's archive, from where you can easily download them (though you have to do this a book at a time; you can't download them all in one go - though that would give your Kindle indigestion anyway as it tried to index them all, so probably a good thing you have to take it slowly!)

Not only are you able to import your Kindle books you have purchased, but you can continue to read across all devices and as long as they are "online" (I turn my wireless on my Kindle Reader only when needed) The book will sync to furthest page read on your current device, brilliant for when I have left my Kindle home but can make good use of time by catching up on my iPhone. That said. I STILL love REAL books so much. Wink They are magical, and a better buy thanks to RiSi and Amazon Used Books and such. My strategy is to keep one book going on Kindle simultaneously with another actual book I'm reading.

Just out of interest, why do you only turn your wireless on when needed. Does it save power if it's not on all the time? Thanks Smile

Yes, leaving wifi on all the time definitely drains the battery faster as the Kindle is constantly checking to see if anything needs downloading while wifi is on, even when it's asleep. I don't know how much faster it uses the battery, but on the couple of occasions I've forgotten to turn wifi off, I have definitely noticed the battery going down much faster.  As a result, I too only turn mine on when I know there's something waiting to download.

I agree Penny it does save power.  Mine only checks for downloads when I wake it up or when it's already awake though.

Beathag, yes I agree with the others... once the device is synced, I turn wireless off, my Kindle looses charge fast it seems when wireless is on. When I am concious of turning it off, it can last almost 2 weeks, which is amazing. Good point.

Also, on the occasions when I have left wifi on and I have had the low battery warning, switching the wifi off has given me hours more reading time before the battery has flattened. It's the same with mobile phones - if they are constantly seeking a network / connection, then this uses more battery.
