Titles, Tasters & Temptations - what we're reading in APRIL
New month, new book for me. I'm now reading The Lady of the Rivers (Philippa Gregory), which is my historical read for this month and the third in the Cousins War trilogy.
Jacquetta, daughter of the Count of Luxembourg and kinswoman to half the
royalty of Europe, was married to the great Englishman John, Duke of
Bedford, uncle to Henry VI. Widowed at the age of nineteen she took the
extraordinary risk of marrying a gentleman of her house-hold for love,
and then carved out a life for herself as Queen Margaret of Anjou's
close friend and a Lancaster supporter - until the day that her daughter
Elizabeth Woodville fell in love and married the rival king Edward IV.
Of all the little-known but important women of the period, her dramatic
story is the most neglected. With her links to Melusina, and to the
founder of the house of Luxembourg, together with her reputation for
making magic, she is the most haunting of heroines.

I'm starting the month off with the last of my March reads Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet. I've just finished it and gave it an 8/10 pure escapism, well recommended. In some ways it reminded me a little of If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern.
I'm going to make a start on The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins which I've carried over from March as I didn't get time to read it.
Mr Grey I don't mind at all if Henry Cavill plays you.

Just finished Notes from an Exhibition, finally (been on my monthly read list for about 6 months, lol!)
Next up, my next chunk of A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth! I left it at a really good bit in March, so really looking forward to getting back to it, as opposed to dreading the weight of it, lol!

After a so-so March, the two I'm reading now promise to be crackers. The Night of the Mi'raj by Zoe Ferraris, and Chasing the Dead by Tim Weaver. Both murder mysteries, one set in England the other in Saudi Arabia.

Yesterday I finished The Sonnet Lover. Today I've started The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber which dovetails nicely with the previous book as they both concerned Shakespeare and possible missing manuscripts.
Sepulchre by Kate Mosse and The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

Finished The Nightspinners (LUcretia Grindle) which was a good read but not to my mind a patch on her later novels.
Now back to the gorgeous Brenda: The Bride That Time Forgot by Paul Magrs. Brenda seems to be having trouble with her memory and Effie's vampire, Alucard, is having a bad influence on her. And then there's the spooky bookshop . . .
