A fatty, a thinny, a golden oldy, a "meant to read" - any kind of book you like can be your challenge for 2012.  Start your engines then!  Some hangovers from 2011, which is quite acceptable, some of us have way too many books to handle - but please do re-list, I notice that some of you are carrying forward last year's challenge to 2012.  Its entirely up to you to add yourself to the thread.  I'll do all the rest, but you have to do something else except read!

I've chosen 2 this year.  The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak is there because although it's ready to read, other volumes continually take its place because I am saving it for a treat (saving it for a treat, what nonsense!  everyone tells me its fab!), and The Many Deaths of the Firefly Brothers by Thomas Mullen a big book with small print which I have wanted to read for ages.  Here's hoping and good luck everyone else!

I've gone for two challenges this year - The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, one of those classics that are so familiar from films etc but that I'm ashamed to say I've never read.

And because I seem to have built up almost a complete collection of Agatha Christies many of which I've either never read or can't remember reading, I aim to get through an Agatha a month, some of them in audiobook form. I got a collection of Agatha CDs in Christmas 2010 and so far have listened to just two of them!

These are the 12 I will be reading:

    Death Comes as the End
Problems at Pollensa Bay and Other stories
The Man in the Brown Suit
The Harlequin Tea Set and other stories
    Murder is Easy
While the Light Lasts and other stories
    Murder on the Links
    The Unexpected Guest
    The 4.50 from Paddington
    Ordeal by Innocence
    Passenger to Frankfurt
Three Blind Mice & Other Stories

Mine are the Philip Pullman trilogy Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, & The Amber Spyglass.  I also want to have another go at Madame Bovary, by Gustave Flaubert, hopefully in a different translation from the one I've given up on twice in the past.

As 2012 is the bicentennial of the birth of Charles Dickens, I plan to read as many as I can starting with A Tale of Two Cities.

For definite I WILL read Game Of Thrones by George RR Martin - and will read it before the spring as I want it read before season 2 starts on the TV!

I read the first James Bond this year and really enjoyed it so will also be reading Live & Let Die and Moonraker by Ian Fleming.
